Kirklees Pioneers Madressah Research
| Following consultation with the KMC’s Community Education Service and IMWS, Maulana Abdullah Bham, Principal of Madressah Anwar ul Islam, Dark Lane, Batley, has been selected to undertake a pioneering international research in partnership with the Jamiat ul Ulama in South Africa and on behalf of madressahs and other supplementary schools in Kirklees. Funded by the Trustees of CfBT (Centre for British Teachers), the Fast Forward Project is offering an exciting opportunity to madressahs and other supplementary schools in Kirklees to benefit from a research opportunity in South Africa. CfBT is a not-for-profit organisation and leading provider of education services, with strong support of research and innovative practice. The purpose of this research and development activity is to inform policy
makers and other stakeholders about the positive impact that madressahs
and supplementary schools can have on the achievement of black and minority
ethnic young people within mainstream education. As part of the Fast Forward project, supplementary school teachers from
other areas in England will undertake research visits to India and Mexico.
The research will focus on how Jamiat ul Ulama operate their madressahs
and provides an enormous potential for sharing experiences, gaining knowledge,
and identifying good practice that can be adapted within madressahs and
supplementary schools in the Kirklees area. www.awaaznews.com |
