Dewsbury woman nets top Tory post

A Former parliamentary candidate for Dewsbury, Heckmondwike and Mirfield is the new vice chairman of the Conservative Party.

Dewsbury – born Sayeeda Warsi, who stood for the Conservatives in the election in may, is one of only two vice chairman, the other one being Devon MP Angela Browning who has responsibility for organisation.

Ms Warsi told AWAAZ “When I was told I would be the Vice Chairman I almost fell through the floor. I feel delighted and I am extremely honoured. I didn’t think such an appointment would be made so early in my political career. Although I would have been privileged to represent my home town of Dewsbury, as an MP. I feel have got a mainstream job on merit, and not placed in just a black job. I will also be involved in the selection of the new party leader and will be giving a speech at Oxford University, so I am looking forward to that.

The appointment was made by Michael Howard and Chairman of the party, Francis Maude, and I very much look forward to working with them and hope to continue working with the new party leader.”
Ms Warsi also emphasized her desire to work with the (ulema) Islamic Scholars with regards to the new religious hatred legislation. She would like hear the views of the ulema on this particular issue to ensure the Muslim communities views can be heard.. Sayeeda Warsi can be contacted on 07971675008.

AWAAZ would like to wish Sayeeda all the best in her future endeavors.
