Solicitor re-appointed to panel

A Batley man, who is on the Football Association Race Advisory Committee, has been re-appointed by the law society to a prestigious panel for a further 5 year term.

Local Solicitor Yunus Lunat has been re-appointed to the Law Society Personal Injury Panel for a further 5 year term. In order to be reappointed onto the Panel Yunus had to show the Law Society that he had maintained his expertise in Personal Injury work. This involves a lengthy procedure of satisfying the Assessor that a minimum number and different types of personal injury claims have been handled to the required standard and speed, including different types of court hearings and applications. According to the records held by the Law Society Yunus was one of the earliest Asian Solicitors to have been accepted on to the Panel and even now is one of only a handful of Asian Solicitors on the Panel.

Yunus was delighted with his re-appointment; he said “the Personal Injury Panel is the highest form of accreditation that is available for Personal Injury work. It is the only form of personal injury accreditation where someone from the Law Society actually checks the quality of your work. It is the only quality kite mark that client’s can check against to ensure that they are being represented by recognised specialists. I am therefore naturally very pleased and delighted.”

Mr Lunat also finds time in his busy schedule to voluntarily coach young footballers at Mount Pleasant, in Batley. In his work with the Football Association Mr Lunat liaises with the FA technical director, Sir Trevor Brooking frequently, ensuring ethnic minority representation in football.
