New football league aimed at Asian
Community

Manchester FA are launching a new football league aimed at the Asian community when this year’s Manchester Mela takes place at the end of the month.

The league – which will start with 16 teams – is scheduled to kick off in August.

Colin Moore, Manchester FA’s Social Inclusion Projects Officer, says that the league will be officially launched at the Manchester Mela in Heaton Park over the weekend of July 30th and 31st.
“Having held a tournament at last year’s Mela, Manchester FA in partnership with the community development agency SEDI are organising a second competition at this year’s event.”
“As a result of the previous tournament, SEDI, with Manchester FA’s assistance, have been successful in obtaining a grant from Awards for All to hold a community five-a-side league targeted specifically at the Asian community,” he says.

“This will hopefully help to encourage participation and build a relationship between Manchester FA and the Asian community here.”
