Councillor launches scathing attack on
Arriva

AA Councillor has hit back at Arriva denying councillors were consulted on the cuts and changes to the bus services throughout Batley West.
Last month Batley Councillor, Shabir Pandor claimed he attended surgeries in Healey, Wilton Estate and Brownhill and was shocked to hear a number of his constituents felt very angry about the changes to the service.

Mr Pandor said “The services that have been cut in Healey, Brownhill, Howden Clough and Wilton Estate are only the tip of the iceberg. This is and will and have a major impact on the quality of life to many residents who need to get to and from work, do there shopping and visit relatives in hospital.

“I have asked the bus companies to provide information on the changes but to date I have not heard anything, far form consulting they have not even bothered to respond. I am taking this issue very seriously and will get to the bottom of this and unravel and un pick every little detail to ensure my constituents are not short changed and left without a good bus service. If the service has deteriorated so much then there are grounds under which the licence and franchises can be taken away from the bus operators. There is tax payers money that is being used to fund these private companies and if they are not delivering for the interest of the public then quite simply there contracts need to be terminated.”

Cllr Shabir Pandor is asking for people to either write to him or contact him on Mobile: 0791 626 1595: Email:shabir.pandor@kirklees.gov.uk with the problems they are facing so he can gather evidence to take action against the bus companies.
